Custom Monuments
Original replaces the vanilla Rust monument roster with nine handcrafted locations that scale from beginner-friendly scavenge spots to military fortresses guarded by armed soldiers and a Bradley APC. Every monument is a Cash opportunity — but only if you can clear the threats and know the route.
Two things set Original's monuments apart from the vanilla map:
- DayZ-style ground loot — items spawn on surfaces throughout each monument, not just inside locked crates. You'll find ammunition, food, medical supplies, components and Cash scattered on counters, shelves, tables and the floor.
- Custom NPCs — the infected (slow-moving, melee-attacking zombies) populate the civilian sites; military soldiers (armed, dangerous) guard the three high-tier locations. Neither group just stands still — clear them or work around them.
The Monuments
Nine custom locations cover the map, grouped here from lowest to highest tier. NPCs and facilities are listed per site.
| # | Monument | NPCs | Facilities | Puzzle Tier |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Suburbs | The Infected | Recycler | Ground loot only (see note) |
| 2 | Motel | The Infected | Recycler | Fuse Box + Green Keycard |
| 3 | Abandoned Mansion | The Infected | — | Fuse Box + Green Keycard |
| 4 | Coastal Town | The Infected | 2× Recyclers | Fuse Box + Blue Keycard |
| 5 | Lazaria Town | The Infected | Recycler, Bank Heist vault | Fuse Box + Blue Keycard |
| 6 | Military Station | Military Soldiers | M270 MLRS | Multiple routes — Blue & Red Keycard |
| 7 | Scraptown | Military Soldiers | Recycler, Bank Heist vault | Fuse Box + Red Keycard |
| 8 | Hospital | Military Soldiers | Recycler | Fuse Box + Red Keycard |
| 9 | Military Airfield | Military Soldiers, Bradley APC | 2× Recyclers | Fuse Box + Blue Keycard + Red Keycard |
Keycards & Where to Buy Them
Green, blue and red keycards are sold at the Equipment Store and Fishing Store outpost vendors. They can also drop from infected and from loot rooms inside the monuments themselves — a completed green-card room often contains a blue card, and a blue-card room often seeds a red card. Keycards are consumed on swipe.
Puzzle Routes
Every locked room on Original follows the same basic logic: find the fuse box, power it up, then swipe your keycard at the coloured door before the power timer expires. The fuse box gives you roughly 20–30 seconds to reach the door — know the layout before you flip it.
1 — Suburbs
The Suburbs has no locked keycard room. Green keycards can spawn here as world drops around the monument or on the infected that roam it — worth sweeping before pushing a Motel run. Focus is entirely on DayZ-style ground loot and clearing infected. The onsite recycler lets you process components without leaving.
2 — Motel
The Motel is the first monument with a genuine puzzle route. It requires a Green Keycard.
- Find the fuse boxLocate the fuse box on the back wall of the motel building. Clear infected from the area before you flip it.
- Power it upInteract with the fuse box to start the power timer. Move immediately.
- Reach the green doorThe green keycard door is inside the motel. Swipe your green card before the power cuts out.
- Loot the roomThe locked room can spawn a Blue Keycard alongside standard monument loot — take it for Coastal Town or Lazaria Town.
3 — Abandoned Mansion
The Abandoned Mansion runs the same green-card route as the Motel but across two floors.
- Locate the fuse boxThe fuse box is on the first floor. Clear infected on both floors first — the stairways funnel them toward you.
- Flip it and move upstairsThe green keycard door is on the second floor. The run upstairs is longer than at the Motel — don't flip the fuse until you're ready to sprint.
- Swipe and lootThe room can contain a Blue Keycard and mansion-tier ground loot.
4 — Coastal Town
Coastal Town steps up to a Blue Keycard. The site has two recyclers and a larger infected population than the green-card sites.
- Find the fuse boxLocate the fuse box inside the monument grounds.
- Reach the blue doorThe blue keycard door is at the front door or main building entrance. Swipe your blue card.
- Loot and look for the red cardThe locked room can seed a Red Keycard — the key to the three high-tier monuments.
5 — Lazaria Town
Lazaria Town also uses a Blue Keycard and is one of the two bank-heist sites. The puzzle route and the bank vault are separate objectives inside the same location.
- Navigate toward the water towerThe water tower is the landmark that orients the puzzle area. Clear infected as you approach.
- Find the fuse box and blue doorThe fuse box and blue keycard door are next to each other in the same area — shorter run than Coastal Town.
- Swipe and lootThe room can contain a Red Keycard. The bank heist vault is a separate objective; see Bank Heists below.
6 — Military Station
Military Station is the first monument held by military soldiers (armed NPCs) rather than infected. It also hosts the M270 MLRS launcher, a rare vehicle-grade item. The route here is more complex than any civilian site.
There are multiple ways into the loot rooms:
- Barracks shortcut — a blue keycard door in the barracks building gives direct access to a room without a fuse box.
- Fuse → switch → blue door — flip the fuse box, find the power-line switch, then swipe the blue door.
- Full blue-to-red route — the largest route leads through the train-station building, across the footbridge, then up to the red keycard door at the top. This is the highest-yield run at Military Station.
7 — Scraptown
Scraptown is the second bank-heist site and requires a Red Keycard. Military soldiers patrol the grounds.
- Locate the central buildingThe main puzzle building sits in the centre of Scraptown. Clear the soldier presence before committing to the route.
- Find the fuse boxThe fuse box is on the side of the central building.
- Reach the red doorThe red keycard door is at the front of the building. Short run — flip, sprint, swipe.
- Run the heist separatelyThe bank vault is a separate objective inside Scraptown. See Bank Heists.
8 — Hospital
The Hospital is held by military soldiers and uses a Red Keycard. The loot room is at the very top of the building.
- Clear and climbMilitary soldiers guard multiple floors. Work your way upward, floor by floor — don't rush the stairwells.
- Find the fuse box on the highest floorBoth the fuse box and the red keycard door are on the top floor. Follow the ceiling power line to locate them.
- Swipe and lootThe loot room is cramped — watch your sightlines if another team is pushing behind you.
9 — Military Airfield
The Military Airfield is the hardest monument on the map. It is guarded by military soldiers and a Bradley APC that patrols the grounds, and it has the most complex puzzle route: Fuse Box + Blue Keycard + Red Keycard. Two recyclers on site make it worth the trip even if you skip the puzzle.
- Deal with the Bradley APCThe Bradley patrols the airfield and will destroy you if you're caught in the open. Clear or avoid it before attempting the puzzle. See Events & High-Tier for Bradley-hunting tactics.
- Find the barracks fuse boxThe fuse box is located in the barracks building. Flip it to power the doors.
- Press the red buttonAfter the fuse, locate and press the red button in the barracks. This unlocks the next door stage.
- Reach the second-floor blue door — Main BuildingSprint to the main building and access the second-floor blue keycard door. Swipe your blue card.
- Continue to the third-floor red doorFrom the blue room, continue up to the third-floor red keycard door. Swipe your red card for the top-tier loot.
Bank Heists
Two monuments on the map contain a bank vault: Lazaria Town and Scraptown. Robbing a bank is one of the highest single-run Cash payouts on the server — but it's loud, it takes time, and the whole server can see what you're doing.
How a Heist Works
- Locate the bank vaultEach heist site has a vault room with a heavy armored door. Find it inside the monument — at Lazaria Town it's near the town-centre bank building; at Scraptown it's the most fortified structure in the compound.
- Break the armored doorThe vault entrance is sealed with an armored door. You'll need explosives to breach it. A C4 charge or satchels are the standard tools; bring enough to finish the job without interruption.
- Start the vault crackInside, interact with the vault crate to begin the heist sequence. A timer starts — you must hold the position until it completes. Expect opposition: other players on the server know a heist is running.
- Defend and waitThe timer cannot be paused. Post up with your team and hold the vault room. The longer the timer runs, the more time rivals have to push in.
- Collect your goldWhen the timer completes the vault opens. Collect gold bars (and occasionally jewelry) from inside. Gold and jewelry are high-value dynamic-price items sold at outpost vendors.
Gold Bars & Payouts
Gold bars and jewelry are sold at the outpost Equipment Store vendor. Their prices are dynamic — heavy server activity selling gold will push prices down, so try to sell after the peak rush or stockpile a run or two before dumping.
| Item | Base Sell Price | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Gold Bar | Dynamic (fluctuates) | Primary bank-heist reward; also dropped by the M270 MLRS event |
| Jewelry | $3,500 base | Occasional extra loot inside the vault |
Gold selling is also tracked in the Lazarus Pass quest pool — heists count toward quest objectives. More on earning Cash from heists and other sources is on the Earning Cash page.
Ground Loot
Original runs a DayZ-style ground-loot system across its custom monuments. Rather than all the good stuff being locked in containers and crates, items spawn directly on world objects — on shelves, counters, tables, filing cabinets, and the ground itself. You can scavenge a monument meaningfully without ever opening a box.
What Spawns and Where
The type of loot you'll find scales with the tier of the monument:
| Monument Tier | Ground-Loot Examples |
|---|---|
| Low (Suburbs, Motel, Mansion) | Food, medical supplies, basic components, ammo, occasional green keycard |
| Mid (Coastal Town, Lazaria Town) | Components, explosives ingredients, blue keycard, weapon parts, medical |
| High (Military Station, Scraptown, Hospital, Airfield) | Weapons, ammo, high-tier components, red keycard, explosives, armour pieces |
How to Sweep a Monument
Because loot is on surfaces, sweeping a monument is more physical than vault-running — you need to actually move through every room and look at every surface. A few habits that pay off:
- Clear before you loot. Infected and soldiers respawn; getting caught mid-search with an item in your hands is how you lose gear. Kill first, collect second.
- Check behind counters and inside open containers. Ground loot spawns on and around interactable objects — not just on the floor in plain sight.
- Recyclers on site process your haul instantly. Suburbs, Motel, Coastal Town, Lazaria Town, Scraptown, Hospital, and Military Airfield all have at least one recycler. Break down components before you leave to save inventory space.
- Don't ignore infected drops. The infected at civilian monuments can drop green keycards and occasionally Cash. Every kill is a potential pickup.
Selling Your Loot
Most items you scavenge at monuments sell at outpost vendors. Weapons go to the Weapons Dealer, components and resources to the Construction Store, gold and jewelry to the Equipment Store. Check the Outpost Vendors page for current dynamic prices before you sell — timing your sells after the rush can earn you significantly more per run.
